    Snark Park X KITH.

The Snark Park X KITH preview exhibit was an exceptionally Soho type of experience. As we arrived at the store an hour and a half early we were informed that the first 50 people had already claimed the free Snark Park totems. Nonetheless, we still had the opportunity to preview the exhibit. But not without waiting outside in the 13-degree weather for two hours. Plus, while waiting in the line we were approached by a journalist and given an on-the-fly-interview about the event (I would link the interview/magazine but sadly I don’t remember the name).

The Snark Park X KITH preview exhibit was well worth the wait.

    SNARK PARK X KITH VIDEO.

The preview was held on the second floor of the storefront. It featured four totems all representing something different. Most art is prohibited to touch but Snark Park asks us to “Please Touch the Art”. Additionally, KITH offered everyone attending the preview a free milkshake!

The event was one for the books!

You can view the full Snark Park X KITH exhibit in March & April.

    Tickets purchasable here.

37 Of My Favorite Looks From the Spring 2019 Couture Collections.

    Viktor & Rolf

Victor & Rolf are known for their avant-garde designs. From the designer’s giant bobble heads strutting the runway in the Fall 2017 runway show to this year’s full tulle dresses featuring massive blurbs in the couture collection, Viktor & Rolf always get a conversation started.

Olivier Rousteing. BRAVO! We have been watching Mr. Rousteing for nine years. Falling in love with his work more and more each season, but this collection has taken that infatuation to new heights. I am impressed by this collection more than any of his previous works because I really can see the vision. I can see the research, the time, the mind power, and the physical labor in all of it.

“The Palace of the East isn’t only a building but also refers to women, because in Chinese culture you have different sayings about women in palaces. It also refers to the outfits and garments women are wearing in these palaces. And you’ll see it in my collection, which reflects all these outfits and garments. As for the people in the Audience.”

    – Guo Pei in an interview backstage before the show began.

    Valentino

Valentino is a classic brand we all know and love. Paris’s haute couture season was closed out by Valentino this year which says a lot about the power of the brand as a whole. The runway show itself was about “more than just the clothes” as creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli exclaimed before the show began. It was truly a fantasy that included movement, silhouette, and one especially familiar face.

    Alexandre Vauthier

LEG! LEG! LEG! Alexandre Vauthier uses this sort of imbalance to create these top-heavy illusions that I adore. The collection is seductive and adorable at the same time. The juxtaposition has been executed in a marvelous way.

    Iris van Herpen

The queen of 3D printing, Iris Van Herpen, creates the quintessential wearable art. Her designs are the most innovative and advanced creations as of today in the fashion industry. She uses technology to create fashion without incorporating the actual technology and that is the point of it all in technological art. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to wear a television on my t-shirt. That is not fashion advancement, it is lazy design. I have digressed away from the original subject matter but you know where I stand. Overall, we are overly fond of Iris van Herpen’s designs in this collection.

Cowboy boots and feathers are right up my alley! This collection is something I relate to on a personal level. It reminds me of childhood innocence and childhood fearlessness. The quirky and eclectic collection really just puts a smile on my face!

  • The Whitney Museum of American Art

The Whitney Museum of American Art

The Whitney Museum of American Art currently has an Andy Warhol exhibition on display with over three hundred pieces from Warhol’s life work. The Whitney is an eight-story museum with floors one, three, and five dedicated to the Warhol exhibition.

The first floor of the Andy Warhol: From A to B and Back Again exhibit is a single room flooded with portraits of what seems like everyone Andy Warhol has ever encountered. The room is painted a chocolate brown, the perfect backdrop for each distinctly unique portrait.

    img_3156img_7140img_0924

Floor three of the Andy Warhol: From A to B and Back Again exhibit is dedicated to the artist’s career in film. Once you step off of the elevator you’re immediately presented with multiple televisions all screening short films recorded by Mr. Andy Warhol himself. These televisions are accompanied by several classic Warhol paintings. Most notably his portraits of Kim Jung Un.

The fifth floor of the Whitney Museum of American Art is where all of the action is. This floor is huge and is where most of the Warhol exhibit is displayed. There are works from every era Warhol has impacted. You could spend an hour or two on the fifth floor alone just appreciating the vast amounts of art.

As for the rest of The Whitney, not included in the Andy Warhol: From A to B and Back Again exhibit, it’s filled with work from some iconic artist past and present. One artist I learned about during my visit was Alice Neel. She is an artist most known for her oil and acrylic paintings, her work evokes emotions that feel like loneliness and satisfaction at the same time.

To conclude, my experience at the Whitney Museum of American Art was phenomenal. The staff is well informed on the art within the museum and exceedingly helpful. Additionally, anyone eighteen or younger gets free entry to the museum and we love a company that supports the youth!

ANDY IS COMING: Series on view at The Whitney Museum.

Andy Warhol is one of the most influential and important artists in the second half of the 20th century. His work has made a major impact in the film, fashion, and art industry. Warhol was a leading figure in the visual art movement also known as POP ART.

    unnamed-6unnamed-5

The Andy Warhol series at the Whitney Museum opened November 12th and the exhibit is massive. There are over 350 works on display and there is an off-site display by Dia of the painting “Shadows” (bottom right image).

Andy Warhol “retired” from painting in 1965, and began working on several different projects. One of those projects included film. He created several short films which are on display in the gallery.

I highly recommend checking out the exhibit, “Andy Warhol- From A to B and back again”, at the Whitney Museum. It’s on view from November 12th – March 31st, 2019. The exhibition is flooded with decades of culture and emotion.

JEBLANC currently offers two items the “FASHION IS THE FUTURE” and “HUMILITY IS THE FUTURE” sets. Neither piece can be put into a single category. They are necklaces/belts/body chains/ bag accessories/ and anything else you can think of, and that is the beauty of the brand. It has no limitations. It has no fear! • Lumps, Bumps, and Buttcracks. IT’S FASHION.

Lumps, Bumps, and Buttcracks. IT’S FASHION.

Fashion is an art first and foremost, and that we must never forget.

I define remarkable fashion by how it makes you feel. If it’s good it will make you smile. If it’s great it will confuse you, it will keep you up at night, and it will be on your mind until you finally figure it out.

    Alexander McQueen: The Birds 1995.

    Comme des Garçons: F/W 1990.

Few designers are able to create great fashion, and in this article, we will discuss just that. The very few.

Alexander McQueen, the mastermind who left us far too soon. McQueen was not given the recognition and praise he deserved in his lifetime. He is credited with introducing a new silhouette to the fashion world, and only a handful of designers in history have ever brought forth a new silhouette to the industry. Alexander McQueen’s new silhouette was the “bumster”. The style elongates the torso and exposes the bum which McQueen says “It wasn’t about showing the bum… To me, that part of the body – not so much the buttocks, but the bottom of the spine – that’s the most erotic part of anyone’s body, man or woman”.

    The Bumster Silhouette.

The medal bodice created by Shaun Leane on the McQueen catwalk.

McQueen was freeing the nipple before “Free the Nipple” was a thing.

Rei Kawakubo, one of the only designers to ever be the theme of the Met Gala and a still living designer. Kawakubo is the founder of Comme des Garçons and owner of the department store, Dover Street Market. The designer turns the abnormal and weird in something sexy and fearless. As a designer, she is a true artist. Societal norms and pressures to fit in are in no way apparent in her work. In fact, the first time I encountered a Rei Kawakubo piece I was doing research on Frankenstein’s influence on fashion. Her designs are almost monstrous with a divine womanly touch.

Comme des Garçons: The Lumps and Bumps Collection S/S 1997.

    Rei Kawakubo for Vogue Paris.

Rihanna & Tracee Ellis Ross wearing Rei Kawakubo at the 2017 Rei Kawakubo themed MET GALA.

Fashion is for the fearless, so if you are not ready to be anything but your valiant self..

    stay at home!

    HAPPYFISH IN WONDERLAND by Sami.

HAPPYFISH’s Sunday night runway show was definitely a walk in wonderland. The designer featured whimsical elements in multiple pieces. Most notably, the spades card bubble skirt which involved 3D cards and a structured outer shell.

Not only were the clothes a playful experience, but the furry friends came dressed to impress as well. The HAPPYFISH Runway Show included puppies and bunnies, but not just any bunny. MIFFY the New York City bunny model who was carried in by Anna-Lisa Christiane and left the stage on her bunny skateboard!

HAPPYFISH IN WONDERLAND was a joyful experience, and we at LYMBRITH wish the brand much success.

    IG// @benitql       TW// @bxnito

Benito Longoria’s artwork stems from his disconnection in a traditional school environment. He took that situation which could be perceived as a negative and manifested it into his distinct art style. Benito created “A world I’d feel more comfortable in”.  A world where many originators would feel more comfortable. His artwork combines childlike elements and sophisticated paint strokes; the artist’s work gives you innocence and torment all at the same time all in the best ways.

Benito Longoria describes his art style as being mostly realism with elements of surrealism and abstraction. His goal with each piece is to express it in the most mystifying and honest way possible.

In five years time, Benito Longoria sees himself creating his own universe. Throughout the span of five years, he will gain knowledge and experience to make that dream a reality. He would like to do various projects with A$AP Rocky and GOLF. In everything he does, Benito will always view himself as a student because he shall never stop learning.

Siana-Lee Valdez says her artwork derives heavily from her spiritual background and open-minded perspective of the world. She views the world as an endless possibility which reflects highly in her pieces. Saucy’s choice in vibrant colors, unexpected pattern mixing, and texture sets her work out from the rest. She dives deeply into her thoughts and imagination when creating. Siana-Lee Valdez chooses not to just accept the reality given to her but instead “Creates her own Reality“.

Siana, an observer of life, identifies people’s hidden intentions through their words, facial expressions, and body language. That is what her latest project includes. Three individual paintings all representing the personalities of humanity. The “Sleepwalker”, the “Seeker”, and the “Fronter”.

In five years time, Saucy will be twenty-three and be living in her New York apartment. Still growing. Still creating. Still loving life. Siana-Lee would like to dabble in film, music, and photography. Her true goal is to inspire, and that she will/ is doing every day.

Alexis Denis Hicks has an eclectic and eccentric style of artwork. She says she tries to remain in a renaissance-esque style of the free nipple movement. As an artist, Alexis doesn’t do it for the shock value but for the natural beauty and art form in and of itself. She considers her work blacstract.

Alexis Hicks finds inspiration in movements such as Black Lives Matter and has been following the movement since it began in 2013. She quotes Tina Lawson when describing her emotions towards her work “It’s so much beauty in being black., and I’ve always known that”.

In five years time, Alexis Denis Hicks sees herself and her brand prospering from the hours of prayer and dedication put into her work. Lexpressions will be a well-known brand name amongst peers, selling prints and painting all over the world.

August Dunson’s style of work is described as simple and clean with aspects of wild color and shapes. She’s an illustrative artist with abstract influences. Currently, August is experimenting with her artistic style and has a heavy hand in the world of poetry. That work can be read on her site August Writes Blog.

The portrait piece of George Stinney Jr photographed above was heavily influenced by the work of Vik Muniz. August Dunson stated, “[Vik Muniz’s] portrait really moved me and imprinted the story of George Stinney Jr in my mind forever so I knew I had to create something telling his story”.

In five years time, August Dunson would like to have her artistic style cemented down and work be well known. She hopes to have her art be on view in galleries, art shows, and collaborations with designers to have her art printed on clothing.

    Timelessness.

The Red Lip is dated way back to the sixteenth century. Worn by Queen Elizabeth I, she sported the look with a pale powdered white face. Guess she wanted to keep a simpler look. More recently known for the bold lip are women such as Marilyn Monroe, who popularized the Red Lip in the 1950s. Hot Spot, I’m declaring it Tracee Ellis Ross is attempting to make the Red Lip her signature.
